In addition to classroom based language and tikanga lessons, Kapa Haka is available to all children at Northland School.
Kapa Haka plays a role in the development of a love of the Māori language and cultural values. Our students express a positive well-being through the sense of belonging and mana.
We have a strong Kapa Haka that gives our children the opportunity to gain confidence in performance. Matua Hemi Prime takes this group and they rehearse in order to perform at assemblies, mihi whakatau, festivals and other special occasions.
Every term, we have a mihi whakatau for new tamariki, whānau and staff. The school welcomes our newcomers with haka, waiata, whaikōrero, hongi and kai. We welcome members of our community to attend.
