Our library is a popular place that sits at the heart of our learning community. It has an extensive collection of books.
We now have a new purpose-built space. The library has lots of comfortable places to read, plenty of inviting displays and many new books to share. It is located right next to the main entrance to the school.
We want to promote reading and of course encourage our students to be life-long readers. During the school day classes and groups of children visit the library either with their teacher or independently to browse and change their books. Students are supported in developing valuable library and research skills; they can search the library to find resources, reserve books and find information. Each lunch time children of all ages are welcome to read, browse and select books from 12:50 – 1:20 pm.
Our librarian Erwin has a wide knowledge of our collection and loves to help match children up with great books. The library is well supported by a team of Year 6-8 student librarians who are rostered on to help return, issue and shelve books each day. They love to read to younger children and help them select books too. Our student librarians and Erwin work together to create displays to highlight new books or to celebrate authors and events.
